Dr. Renato A. Neves, director of the Eye Care Hospital, was one of the first
surgeons in Brazil to perform refractive laser surgeries in 1997. Today, he
continues to advance the field of refractive surgery as one of the leading
ophthalmologists in the world being an advisor for Visx and Moria, two of
the world most important companies in the field of laser vision correction.

Dr. Neves has performed more than 18,000 laser surgeries and 9000 cataract
surgeries and has trained several surgeons in the use of the excimer laser.
Dr. Neves graduated as an MD from the Federal University of Sao Paulo, where
he continued his studies asa resident and received the MS and Doctoral
Degrees.
He was a post doctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1993-94, specializing in Cornea and Immunology.

He has contributed more than 200 articles, abstracts and reports to professional journals and delivered more than 100 invited lectures on five continents.

He is an International member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He also is a member of the international Society of Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr Neves is the president and founder of the Eye Care Foundation in 2001 (www.eyes.org.br) giving free eye care to more than 50000 brazilians in the last 3 years
